What’s So Great About Spring?

Flowers Are In Bloom

Garden wedding venues are popular for a reason! The natural backdrop of blooming trees and flowers makes an ideal backdrop for ceremonies and portrait photography. With fragrant magnolias, abundant wildflowers, and budding fruit trees, the world feels alive and ready to burst with sunshine – kind of how it feels to be in love.

Springtime is beautiful in Winchester and across Virginia, with apple blossoms reaching their peak between late March and early May. The signature bloom of the region, apple blossoms are quintessential accents during the spring wedding season. You’ll find a lot of natural beauty in the Valley but we have always loved the delicate whimsy of Virginia bluebells, which you can find all over the Landfall property.

Weather & Natural Light

By getting married in the springtime, you’ll get the best of both worlds, weather-wise. Warmer days are pleasant but not sweltering, and on chillier days, most people can still be comfortable without needing a coat. Although you still run the risk of rain, that’s no problem for a spring wedding at Landfall Lodge! We have both indoor and outdoor spaces available for every event, and, like many outdoor venues, we’ll work with you to prepare for A- and B-scenarios when you aren’t sure which way the weather will go. Since we only book one wedding per weekend, you won’t be competing with another event for the indoor or outdoor option. Our tented area is perfect for providing coverage and shade, while still allowing views of the trees, blooms, and wildlife all around you.

Natural light during this time of year is ideal for photography! The bright blue sky against your wedding attire really helps your color palette pop and makes for a memorable day in the sunshine. After Daylight Saving Time, you’ll have more light for photography later in the day. Photographers love our venue for all the beauty it supplies, which includes ample choices for shade or sunshine to get perfect portrait lighting.

Fewer Scheduling Conflicts

For most outdoor venues, spring is a highly desirable time for events, and dates go quickly. Many couples are planning further ahead for spring weddings, because there are timing benefits that no other season offers. Although competition for wedding dates may be stiff during this time, there’s an inherent availability to it that summer and autumn can’t compete with. March-May weddings are just far enough out from the busy holiday season that people are ready to start making plans again, but still far enough from summer vacations that people can still attend. For photography, catering, bar service, and more, there is better vendor availability, as many couples choose summer or fall for their weddings. The pressure of date security is real, but with our calendar to look ahead and inquire, it’s easy to get your date locked in.

Garden Wedding Venues Are Timeless

In spring, people are most eager to get outside and start enjoying the post-winter sunshine. The sun-seeking energy of the spring always seems to imbue weddings with the same feeling of anticipation, and a sense that – finally – the day you’ve been waiting for is here! Garden wedding venues are great for couples who love natural beauty and outdoor settings, or who want flexibility in design or photography backgrounds. We love seeing outdoor venues when everything is in bloom, because they have a romantic, airy aesthetic that is just so…WEDDING. Not all trends stand the test of time, but to us, nature will always be in vogue.
