Pet-friendly ceremonies have become increasingly popular as trends shift beyond what’s expected and traditional, and become more about what matters to you as a couple. At Landfall Lodge, we give you freedom to incorporate all the things that reflect who you are – that’s why we’re a pup-friendly wedding venue!
Dogs Are Family, Too
Including a beloved dog in your special day can make it feel more personal and complete. Many couples adopt and raise pets together before getting engaged, and people who adventure together with their dogs often can’t imagine going through such an important moment without them by their side. Getting married at a dog-friendly wedding venue, every member of the family can be present for the ceremony!
From the weddings we’ve seen, guests often remember the happy tail wags and playful interactions (or mishaps!) just as vividly as the first dance or cake cutting. Whether your loyal Doodle carries the rings, a German Shepherd minds the wedding flock from his honored place in the bridal party, or you designate your Labrador Retriever as the official greeter during cocktail hour, there’s a role for man (and wife)’s best friend.
What Makes a Great Dog-Friendly Venue?
Of course, not every couple wants a pet-friendly wedding, but for those who do, it is a deciding factor when selecting a wedding venue! Large, outdoor venues are ideal because they provide room for photos, potty breaks, and a more relaxed experience for both pets and their owners. Not only do we welcome four-legged friends for ceremonies at Landfall – we can’t imagine a better space for a dog to truly belong in the wedding celebration!
Crowded spaces can be stressful for even the most socialized dogs, but with over 200 acres on our property, you’ll find plenty of room for pre-ceremony walks to burn off nervous energy and keep your pup stimulated. The natural scenery is a perfect backdrop for portraits with your dog, without it looking staged or out of place. Between our ponds, pastures, wildflowers, and island pergola, there are ample opportunities to get away from the crowd, smell all the scents of nature, and take some photos that preserve your little family in this moment in time.
Sit. Stay. Say “I Do.”
It’s a small touch that guests will always remember, and that makes the event feel organic – not choreographed. At Landfall Lodge, we have had many couples bring their furry family members to walk down the aisle, stand with the wedding party, or join them for portraits. Pets must be supervised throughout the event, but we’re proud to be one of the few sought-after venues in Virginia that allow dogs to be part of your ceremony!
It’s important to note that dog-inclusion is not an off-leash experience. We do have horses on-site, and some areas are restricted to guests – even the four-legged ones.
